Acquiring laparoscopic skill proficiency: Does orientation matter?
Article Abstract:
A study was undertaken to establish whether side-on laparoscopic operating orientation alters time-to-skill mastery compared with head-on orientation. Results indicated different learning curves for head-on versus side-on laparoscopic orientations where a greater initial disorientation is seen with the side-on orientation, although this can be overcome with practice.
