Resistant starch has little effect on appetite, food intake and insulin secretion in healthy young men
Article Abstract:
The diet of 24 healthy males was supplemented with glucose, native high-amylose corn resistant starch (RS2) or retrograded high-amylose corn resistant starch (RS3) to test the effect of starch on the appetite. The research showed that RS2 was more satiating than glucose and RS3 and reduced appetite, but the diet supplementation did not affect the cyclic pattern of appetite. The energy and macronutrient intake was similar in all three cases but RS2 decreased the excretion of C-peptides and insulin. The bad taste of RS3 increased the consumption of mono- and disaccharides and decreased that of polysaccharides.

Appetite dysfunction in obese males: Evidence for role of hyperinsulinaemia in passive overconsumption with a high fat diet
Article Abstract:
The hypothesis that caloric and fat intake in pre-load meal has not effects on blood glucose and insulin concentrations, subsequent foot intake, appetite control and perceived hunger, in lean and obese men, was tested. Obese males could not compensate for caloric overloading when fed a high-fat pre-load. A calorically reduced pre-load was found to produce similar intakes to the learn control group. It is likely that insulin plays a role in the regulation of appetite.
