Resourceful care
Article Abstract:
Ward sisters can improve patient care through control of finances. Management education and and expert support are necessary for the ward sister to manage resources effectively. Input from the ward housekeeper and receptionist facilitates cost effective use of clinical supplies. Sisters' involvement in staff selection and duty organisation ensures patients' requirements are met. Budget flexibility would give sisters' greater control of spending according to need.

Bring back the EN: for and against
Article Abstract:
The re-introduction of enrolled nurses (ENs) in the UK would help alleviate the nursing shortage by encouraging back to work those who do not wish to progress too far up the health service ladder. Offering certificate-level entry into nursing would tap into a rich source of labour which is being wasted at the present time. However, many nurses are against ENs being regarded as nurses because they do not slot into the specific role of nurses.
