Rising to the challenge
Article Abstract:
The United Kingdom Central Council publication 'The Scope of Professional Practice' releases nurses from a subordinate role. Nurses' professional status will be enhanced by taking over routine tasks formerly carried out by junior doctors. Junior doctors gain no long-term educational benefit by performing functions which could be more ably carried out by nurses. Nurses should aim to provide a greater range of services by extending their skill levels in accordance with patient needs.
