Safe Harbors: doctors score symbolic win
Article Abstract:
The federal government has revised regulations governing anti-kickback protections for provider-sponsored organizations (PSO). However, doctors are likely to experience little impact as a result of the changes. The safe harbor revisions are divided into two categories. The first set protects enrollment incentives and the second protects price-reduction agreements. The regulations lack a clear definition of a PSO and as a result physicians have many questions regarding which capitated arrangements qualify for protected status.
