Scientists react to government indecision

Some British scientists feel a public reaction against science is to blame for the government's decision to stall research on human embryonic stem cells. The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority and the Human Genome Advisory Committee recommend such research, but the government says it needs to see more evidence that the research is necessary.
