Severe preeclampsia remote from term: labor induction or elective cesarean delivery?
Article Abstract:
Cervical ripeness may be the best clinical predictor of successful vaginal delivery in preterm pregnant women with preeclampsia. Preeclampsia is a hypertensive complication of pregnancy. Researchers reviewed the medical charts of 306 patients with severe preeclampsia delivered of their babies at 24-34 weeks' gestation. Nearly half the women had labor induced, and 48% successfully delivered vaginally. The remaining patients underwent cesarean section. Patients with a Bishop score of cervical ripeness of 4 or more had nearly twice the likelihood of successfully delivering a child, compared to women with less-favorable cervices. Greater gestational age also predicted successful vaginal delivery.

Pregnancy outcome in women with prosthetic heart valves
Article Abstract:
The aim of the study is to evaluate the risks of different anticoagulant regiments during pregnancy in women with prosthetic heart valves and to study the maternal and perinatal outcome of such high-risk pregnancies. Despite a high maternal morbidity rate, the perinatal outcome is acceptable when pregnancy progresses beyond the first trimester.
