Should I get tested for the breast cancer gene?

A woman whose mother died of breast cancer considers getting tested for a genetic mutation, BRCA1, which appears at least 45% of all hereditary breast cancer cases. She decides against the expensive test because she knows she is already living a healthy lifestyle and a positive result would just cause anxiety.
