Article Abstract:
The Health and Safety at Work Act of 1974 states that professional firms have a duty to conduct the provision of its services in a way that persons are not exposed to risks to their health and safety. This reflects the Health and Safety Executive's (HSE) interpretation of public safety duties in recent prosecutions of a fairground ride inspection company and its chief examiner. The HSE found that the accidents were the result of faults in rides which had been inspected by the same employee of the firm.
