Small trials rather than large observational studies in nutritional epidemiology
Article Abstract:
Large observational studies in nutritional epidemiolgy have often resulted in erroneous conclusions as compared to smaller randomized trials. This is attributed to the higher potential for confounding in the observational studies brought about by higher variable interaction within foods and individuals. It is also more difficult to quantify nutrient intake in different individuals with different diets or in an individual with variable daily diet. On the other hand, randomized trials may address these disadvantages.
