Epidemiology and molecular identification of Salmonella infections in children
Article Abstract:
There does not seem to be an epidemiological connection between most of the cases of salmonellosis in children under four years of age. Molecular identification done on 90 cases through DNA workups of the Salmonella bacteria showed them not to be related through any common source of food, but the results of individual incidents of contamination. The only exception to the isolated cases was five instances involving 12 patients, and seven of the patients had geographical connections.
