Status of lipidsoluble antioxidants and TRAP in patients with Crohn's disease and healthy controls
Article Abstract:
There is no difference in alpha-tocpherol levels between patients with Crohn's disease and controls, according to research into the status of lipidsoluble antioxidants (carotenoids, tocopherols, ubiquinone), retinol and their connection with total radical-trapping antioxidant potential in people suffering from Crohn's disease. However, gamma-tocopherol was substantially raised in the patient group. Increased values of ubiquinone in Crohn's disease patients can be seen as a response to stop free-radical damage caused by the inflammation.

Phosphate supplementation in young men: lack of effect on calcium homeostasis and bone turnover
Article Abstract:
Bone turnover in young men is not influenced by phosphate supplementation of the diet, according to a two-part study evaluating the effects of low and high phosphorus and the impact of extremes of phosphate intake. Both studies indicated a rise in urinary excretion of phosphate and a fall in urinary calcium. There was no change in bone resorption markers in either study. It remains unclear whether a high dietary phosphate diet is a significant determinant of peak bone mass in women.
