Studies highlight air pollution risks
Article Abstract:
Studies reveal that lung development in children living close to freeways is adversely affected, and long-term exposure to fine particulate matter is associated with increased incidence of cardiovascular disease and death among postmenopausal women. The revision of particulate matter standards and inclusion of local variation in air quality regulations are hence recommended to reduce the risk.
