Moderate lifestyle changes cut hypertension in elderly
Article Abstract:
Weight loss and decreased salt intake have been proven to be effective means of lowering blood pressure for elderly patients without the use of medications. In a trial of 875 women and men ranging from 60 to 80 years of age, researchers found a 53% reduced risk in those following a low-salt, weight-loss plan. Low-salt and weight-loss reduced risk 31% and 30% respectively.
