Subcommittee acts on FTC jurisdiction over professions
Article Abstract:
An amendment has been adopted by the House Subcommittee on Energy and Commerce that helps define the Federal Trade Commission's rule making powers over the professions. Under the new amendment the Federal Trade Commission will not have powers over licensure requirements, but it will be able to exercise jurisdiction over the professions' business and commercial practices.

House opens door to doctor networks; AMA pushes Senate
Article Abstract:
Republicans in the House are proposing Medicare reforms that would weaken impediments to physician-led networks and would reduce physicians' tort liability. The American Medical Assn is supporting these reforms and is lobbying the Senate to embrace the House's legislative proposals. Health insurers and trial lawyers are opposing the proposed reforms.
