Suicide risk and treatments for patients with bipolar disorder
Article Abstract:
People with bipolar disorder who take Depakote may be more likely to attempt suicide than people who take lithium, according to a study published in 2003. Depakote is an anticonvulsant that can be effective in treating manic symptoms in patients with bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder is the medical term for manic-depression.
