Tailoring arthritis therapy in the wake of the NSAID crisis
Article Abstract:
The recent trial of celecoxib suggests that it increases cardiovascular risk and indicates that it may slow the growth of colon polyps, which would reduce the patient's risk of colon cancer. The benefit achieved from arthritis treatment must be weighed against the risks of adverse events that are likely to be encountered with traditional nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and coxibs.
