More than the sum of its parts
Article Abstract:
Multidisciplinary teams are essential for the care and treatment of diabetes because of the large number of illnesses which can result from the disease, such as limb amputation or problems with eyes. Health care teams tend to work better in smaller units, allowing close working relationships to form. The main criteria of an effective diabetes multidisciplinary team are committment, support, trust, good communication skills and full utilization of team experience and knowledge.
