Taking aim at mosquitoes
Article Abstract:
Indoor spraying or bed nets impregnated with pyrethroid insecticide can reduce death and illness arising due to malaria, but its long-term effectiveness remains a question. Other genetic approaches are to exploit the mosquito and parasite genome sequences to develop insecticides that attack new targets within the vector or prevent resistance to existing pesticides.
