Teaching alternative therapies to diploma nursing students
Article Abstract:
In response to a growing interest in alternative therapies a program of study for nurses has been initiated, which includes learning techniques in subjects such as massage, aromatherapy and hypnosis. Through practical and academic study, over a period of 3 days, nurses who are near to completing their training can learn basic skills and understanding of a variety of therapies. It is hoped that this will not only enhance the nurses knowledge and skill to respond to clients needs but ensure that they receive the proper standard of care.

A creditable experience
Article Abstract:
A person studying for nursing qualifications may gain academic credit by virtue of previous experience and knowledge, known as Accreditation of Prior (Experiential) Learning (APEL). A candidate may exchange credits afterproviding factual evidence, usually with a certificate, of their achievements. In addition, a candidate may gain credit by demonstrating knowledge acquired in their personal and professional lives if it is applicable to the subjects of the qualification.

Its a duet not a duel
Article Abstract:
Research was carried out into the management of lecturer/practitioner posts in the Trent area, UK. The role of lecturer/practitioners is not clearly defined and post holders need authority and experience if they are to be able to cope with the demands of both the health trust and university which they work for. The role needs to be clarified, and agreements reached about expectations and outcomes. Post holders also need to be able to show that their role is valuable.
