Stage a do-it-yourself disaster
Article Abstract:
Emergency drills can help facilities manage disasters better. However, management should carefully plan such activities to prevent them from turning to real catastrophes. This entails a thorough review of the current emergency plan, an inspection of the facility to check compliance with existing laws and an assessment of the facility's hazards and risks. It also includes an inventory of the facility's emergency supplies and proper employee training for handling emergency situations. Management should also consider the neighborhood and the agencies needed for disaster aid when planning.
