They recommend employing an administrator who is not a physician. Also, physicians should admit they do not know everything, thereby opening the door to good communications.

HMO growth picks up; U.S. enrollment nears 15%
Article Abstract:
Health maintenance organization (HMO) enrollment grew at varying rates across the nation, according to a report by InterStudy. Growth from Jan 1993 to Jun 1993 was 2.2% in western HMOs and 1.5% in midwestern HMOs. Enrollment in northeastern and southern HMOs grew 5.1% and 3.1%, respectively. Overall health maintenance organization enrollment grew 6.1% from Aug 1, 1991, to Jun 30, 1992.
