Mice without telomerase: what can they teach us about human cancer?
Article Abstract:
This article discusses recent research findings linking telomere activity and growth or arrest of growth of primary cells to cancer initiation and or progression. However, available data point out that a complete understanding requires analysis of human tumors and cell culture studies and verifying the results with an experimental model organism.

How an understanding of genetic sequencing may affect individual cancer therapy is examined. Topics include possibilities for sequencing a patient's entire genome, principles to consider when forecasting the impact of medical research, and challenges to be overcome before genome sequencing can be fully utilized in cancer therapy.
