Effects of fish oil supplementation on apolipoprotein B100 production and lipoprotein metabolism in normolipidaemic males
Article Abstract:
The effects of fish oil on lipoprotein metabolism and apolipoprotein B100 production on normolipidemic males were examined. Ten healthy, white male subjects participated in a study that assessed their very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) apolipoprotein kinetics using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and 13C-leucine technique. Results showed that fasting plasma levels of non-esterified fatty acid and total plasma VLDL declined after fish oil supplementation.

Postprandial triacylglycerolaemia: the effect of low-fat dietary treatment with and without fish oil supplementation
Article Abstract:
Supplementing low-fat diet with a low dose of fish oil prevents the adverse effects, such as the reduced concentrations of high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol and an elevated plasma triacylglycerol (TAG), associated with low-fat diets. A study reports that fish oil supplementation increases fasting plasma TAG levels and reduces the HDL cholesterol significantly. However, the fish-oil treatment can adversely affect postprandial triacylglycerolaemia.

The effect of low-dose fish oil supplementation on serum growth factors in healthy humans
Article Abstract:
A new study investigates whether low-dose fish oil supplements effects serum growth factors in healthy adults. It is shown that supplementation does not alter levels of the major serum growth factors.
