The Pediatric AIDS Severity Score (PASS): A multidimensional AIDS-severity adjustment for pediatric HIV infection
Article Abstract:
A study developed pediatric AIDS severity score (PASS) by using baseline sociodemographic clinical, immunologic and functional measures obtained from 786 perinatally HIV-infected children enrolled into a prospective cohort (PACTG 219) study in the pre-highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) era. It is concluded that PASS would be helpful in assessing the effectiveness of ART among children with HIV infection, particularly when randomized clinical trials are not possible due to ethical and feasibility concerns.

Simple Pediatric Aids Severity Score (PASS): A pediatric severity Score for resource-limited settings
Article Abstract:
A study developed multidimensional pediatric AIDS severity score (PASS) for severity adjustment and as a predictive model for mortality in a pediatric HIV-infected population. It is seen that the Simple PASS scoring system presents a reasonable alternative to CD4% values and HIV viral-load levels to assess prognosis and guide decisions about antiretroviral therapy initiation in resource-limited settings.

The Chilean AIDS cohort: A model for evaluating the impact of an expanded access program to antiretroviral therapy in a middle-income country-organization and preliminary results
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted in Chile, a middle-income country to evaluate the impact of expanded access program (EAP) to antiretroviral therapy (ART). The report derived from the Chilean EAP and its evaluated impact would be useful to countries with similar economic capacity, epidemic status as the Chilean AIDS Cohort (ChiAC) with its preliminary results.
