Call to stop GPs seizing control
Article Abstract:
Nursing, consumer and health organizations in the UK have welcomed provisions contained in the government's White Paper 'The New NHS' which would make primary care groups, headed by GPs and community nurses, the main National Health Service (NHS) purchasers. However, nursing unions are keen to ensure that nurses are not pushed aside as GPs gain control of NHS purchasing. The RCN is already considering how nurses can play a proactive role in the purchasing process.
