Mycobacterial Infections in Patients with HIV: A Review of Disease and Care
Article Abstract:
HIV patients are particularly vulnerable to two mycobacterium infections, mycobacterium avium-intracellulare and M. tuberculosis. Mycobacterium avium-intracellulare is also known as M. avium complex (MAC) and is the most common systemic bacterial infection for HIV patients. The bacteria is found in food, water, and soil. Intensive drug combination and infection control should be included in treatment. Mycobacterium are ancient pathogens that have been associated with tuberculosis and leprosy.

Factors related to the initiation of prenatal care in the adolescent nullipara
Article Abstract:
Initiation of prenatal care by adolescents in their first pregnancy is most strongly predicted by the availability and adequacy of health care resources, according to a study involving 51 subjects at a university clinic. The ease or perceived ease of getting a medical card for the clinic was positively associated with the timing of prenatal care. A number of potential structural and nonstructural barriers to prenatal care were examined.
