Article Abstract:
Insurance is a very competitive market but buyers should make sure they have adequate protection to provide cover in all circumstances. Life insurance can be term or whole life, both valid for a limited period, but payments on death vary. Cost will depend on the insured's health, age and sex. The competition between car insurers has meant a reduction in cost, with ownership of a car alarm, living in the country or access to a garage further reducing premiums. The amount paid for adequate cover when insuring buildings and valuables depends on value of the contents and location.

Planning a pay-off
Article Abstract:
Financial planning is as important for nurses as it is for people in other professional groups in the UK. Nurses should check that they are not underpaying or overpaying tax, and should consider saving a regular amount, even if this is only very small. The nurses' pension scheme is generally regarded as very good, but many nurses will still retire on pensions which are lower than the maximum allowed by the Inland Revenue. Nurses should consider buying extra years to increase their pension.
