The common cold

The common cold is a viral infection of the upper respiratory tract spread primarily by hand-to-hand contact. Antihistamines, decongestants, cough medicines, analgesics and combination products offer temporary relief. Interferons, vaccines and environmental controls show promise for prevention.

Vision and your eyes: managing common problems

Eye problems are common, especially as people age. Some serious eye problems, including inflammation, drooping eyelid and floaters are treatable, while others, such as macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy are less easily treated.
