The correlation of urethral mobility and point Aa of the pelvic organ prolapse quantification system before and after surgery
Article Abstract:
A study is undertaken to determine the effect of surgical intervention along the anterior or apical vaginal wall on the correlation between the Q-tip angle and point Aa of the pelvic organ prolapse quantification (POP-Q) system in a referral population of women with pelvic floor dysfunction. It is concluded that point Aa does not reflect urethral mobility accurately as measured by the Q-tip angle before and after surgical intervention for correction and restoration of the pelvic floor.

Perioperative complications and adverse events of the MONARC transobturator tape, compared with the tension-free vaginal tape
Article Abstract:
The incidence of perioperative complications of the MONARC transobturator tape are compared with that of the tension-free vaginal tape (TVT) in women undergoing surgical treatment for stress urinary incontinence. It is suggested that the transobturator tape is associated with a lower rate of bladder injury, decreased postoperative anticholinergic medication use, and fewer urethrolyses for postoperative voiding dysfunction or urinary urgency than the TVT.

Is transobturator tape as effective as tension-free vaginal tape in patients with borderline maximum urethral closure pressure?
Article Abstract:
The effectiveness of transobturator tape (MONARC) is compared to that of tension-free vaginal tape (TVT) in patients with borderline low maximum urethral closure pressure. It is concluded that MONARC has a higher failure rate than TVT in individuals who have a preoperative maximum urethral closure pressure of 42 cm or less [H.sub.2]O.
