A 75-Year-Old Woman With an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm and Emphysema
Article Abstract:
The case of a 75-year-old woman with an abdominal aneurysm illustrates the complex decision making required before surgery can be recommended. In this condition, the wall of the aorta weakens, balloons out and can rupture, with disastrous consequences. The surgery itself is not risk-free, so patients at high risk of surgical complications need to be carefully evaluated. Small aneurysms are unlikely to rupture and surgery may not be needed. Ultrasound and CT imaging can be used to follow the aneurysm. Surgery should improve life expectancy in patients with aneurysms five centimeters or larger.

Effect of Perindropil on large artery stiffness and aortic root diameter in patients with Marfan syndrome
Article Abstract:
The study to determine if Perindropil reduces aortic stiffness and attenuates aortic dilation in patients with Marfan syndrome is presented. Results confirm the hypothesis and suggest large clinical trials.
