The eco-cultural context of the undernourished children in a study on the effects of early supplementary feeding in Indonesia
Article Abstract:
The ecological and cultural environment of infants and toddlers involved in an experimental initiative in West Java to assess the validity of a conceptual model of the intellectual delay of undernourished children is considered. Childcare in this environment seems to be mainly aimed at protecting the children from stress factors that could cause disease or death.

Research into the impact of an energy and micronutrient supplement on the motor milestones, motor development and motor activity of nutritionally disadvantaged infants and young children in Pangalengan, Indonesia, is presented. Effects of an energy and micronutrient supplement on iron deficiency anemia, physical activity and motor and mental development in undernourished children in Indonesia
Article Abstract:
The impact of six months of micronutrient supplementation on motor and mental development, motor activity and behaviour under natural conditions in anemic and non-anemic malnourished toddlers is discussed. Micronutrient intervention did not lead to a substantial change in the mental test scores or in the behaviours seen under natural field conditions.
