Caffeine intake and the risk of first-trimester spontaneous abortion
Article Abstract:
Caffeine may increase the risk of miscarriage in non-smoking pregnant women. This was the conclusion of a study of 562 pregnant women who had a miscarriage and 953 pregnant women who did not. The risk increased as the amount of caffeine ingested increased and the risk of miscarriage only occurred in non-smokers.

The influence of gestational age and smoking habits on the risk of subsequent preterm deliveries
Article Abstract:
Women who have had a premature delivery in the past are more likely to have one in the future. In a study of 243,858 Swedish women, women who had a previous premature delivery were between 2 and 12 times more likely to have another one, depending on how premature their baby was in the previous delivery. Women who smoked were also more likely to have a premature delivery compared to those who did not.
