Article Abstract:
A secure unit with adequate facilities for isolation and recreation is essential for those few patients with tuberculosis who are unable to help themselves achieve a cure and require a long inpatient stay. Revision of the law to permit less drastic measures, such as the requirements to be examined, to attend for directly observed therapy and to complete treatment, would be helpful.
