The influence of fat free mass on prediction of densitometric body composition by bioelectrical impedance analysis and by anthropometry
Article Abstract:
The bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) method developed by K.R. Segal and associates provides the best prediction of body composition even after the variation of fat free mass size as compared to other BIA and anthropometric methods. It has closest agreement to the fat free mass prediction by the underwater weighing method, and involves the least bias. However, since its accuracy relies on prior knowledge of an individual's body fat, it is better to use simple weight specific equations or body mass index methods.

Weight loss with high and low carbohydrate 1200 kcal diets in free living women
Article Abstract:
A randomized controlled trial was conducted to determine the effect of high and low carbohydrate 1200 kcal diets on weight loss and cardiovascular risk factors among free living women. The results indicated that a high carbohydrate diet is the recommended approach for weight management, from the point of view of risk reduction. It was also found that neither high nor low carbohydrate diet can guarantee a consistently rapid weight loss.

Skeletal proportions and metabolic disorders in adults
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to examine the relationship of body proportions to hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hypercholesterolaemia, and coronary heart disease in men and women. Results indicate that skeletal proportions, limb lengths, and height are associated with metabolic disorders. For men, body proportions are associated with hypercholesterolaemia and diabetes mellitus while coronary heart disease is associated with women.
