The mosquito's innate sting
Article Abstract:
A mosquito can fend off the malaria parasite due to a mosquito protein that is a mammalian immune-fighting substance. The study of malaria in mosquitoes is thus proving to be a productive area for understanding the innate immune system and the coevolution of parasites and their invertebrate hosts.

Malaria transmission-blocking vaccines - how can their development be supported?
Article Abstract:
Vaccines that would prevent malaria transmission are expensive to develop, and lack of commercial interest requires public sector investment. Scientists all over the world have expressed interest in researching such development, but funding remains a crucial issue.
