Article Abstract:
The impact of recently initiated programs from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and several not-for-profit institutions that are designed to revitalize the physician-scientist career pipeline are evaluated. The results show that these new programs are having a positive impact on the decisions of young physicians to pursue research careers and to maintain this trend, strong funding commitments will be required beyond the entry level.
