The prevalence and causes of autistic spectrum disorders
Article Abstract:
Results of new research into the prevalence of autism and into its causes that highlight implications for nurses are presented. It is suggested that specialist education and structured support can make a real difference to the lives of the people with autism, maximizing their skills and enabling them to achieve full potential in adulthood.

The NSF for renal services part one: dialysis and transplantation
Article Abstract:
Renal disease is a disease in which kidney function deteriorates resulting in an irreversible, long-term condition. The renal services sets five standards and aims to help the NHS and its partners to manage demand, increase fairness of access and improve choice and quality in dialysis and kidney transplanted services.

Raising awareness of the rise in allergy-related conditions
Article Abstract:
The incidence of allergic disease is increasing, and allergy support groups are working to raise awareness of this increase and to highlight the inadequacies in NHS allergy management services. Its implications for nursing practice are discussed.
