Registered nurse Theresa Ramirez was convicted of first-degree murder for shooting her plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Tavis on Jul 3, 1997. During the trial, experts proposed that Tavis had body dysmorphic disorder wherein sufferers become obsessed with perceived imperfections in their body.

Restraining orders for abusive husbands seem not enough to prevent more violence as proven by what happened to Melanie and Carli Edwards. After Carlton Edwards was court-ordered to stay away from his estranged family the killing happened.
