This response involves colony stimulating factor-1, which induces the trophoblast to produce neutrophil chemoattractants and macrophage inflammatory protein-2.

The presence of helper and cytotoxic T cells against hepatitis C virus may be a marker of a previous exposure to the virus. In a study of 43 women who had recovered from hepatitis C about 20 years before, all had HCV-specific T cells but no HCV-specific antibodies.
