The voice of the people
Article Abstract:
Gradual progress is being made towards patient participation in determining health care services in the UK. The Royal College of General Practitioners has had a patient liaison group since 1983, and this group now forms an integral part of the college's activities. Five of the other royal colleges are now working in a similar way to encourage patient participation. Many GP practices state that they have patient involvement, but in practice patients are being asked to help out, rather than identify needs or structure services.
