There are not enough opportunities for nurses to develop their roles
Article Abstract:
There are insufficient opportunities for nurses in the UK to develop and expand their roles. In many cases, nurses who wish to make progress in their career feel that they have to move out of clinical practice. This issue will be partly addressed by increasing incentives for nurses in the four highest clinical grades. It is to be welcomed that the government has emphasized the key role of nurses within the National Health Service, but care should be taken to ensure that nurses do not feel that they have to prove their worth.
