Article Abstract:
Nursing researchers and managers are investigating new ways of improving nursing whilst, in practice, nurses are still struggling to implement the older idea of clinical supervision. Clinical supervision was a good idea. Nurses need time to discuss their work and to plan for improvement, but the innovation is in danger of failure. Nurses approve of the concept in theory, but find it difficult to implement in practice due to lack of time and resources. Researchers and managers should give due consideration to real conditions if they want to see their policies practiced.
