Cell Biology Update: A Decade of Simulating Space on Earth
Article Abstract:
A rotating, fluid-filled growth chamber called a bioreactor may revolutionize the growth of cells in culture, including many bacteria and viruses that are difficult to grow on traditional culture media. The device was invented for the space shuttle but the technology has been licensed to Synthecon, Inc. in Houston, TX, and StelSys LLC in Baltimore, MD.
