Time and Medicine
Article Abstract:
The author discusses concepts of time and how they have evolved over the centuries. He points out that the idea of personal time, time lived by an individual, began to emerge in the early 20th century, allowing a discourse of one's personal past to supplant the previous historical past as a topic of value to be explored by thinkers and philosophers. He points to Henri Bergson, Emil Durkheim, Sigmund Freud, and Eugene Minkowski as major figures in that transition. That shift and new technology allowed interest in simultaneity to emerge with cybernetics and the concept of globalism.
