Tolterodine for overactive bladder
Article Abstract:
Tolterodine has fewer side effects than other drugs used to treat an overactive bladder, but it may not be as effective. An overactive bladder leads to frequent urination and urinary incontinence. Most drugs used to treat overactive bladder belong to a class of drugs called anti-muscarinic drugs because they block muscarinic cell receptors. Sold under the trade name Detrol, tolterodine also blocks these receptors . It is less likely to cause the usual side effects of these drugs, including dry mouth, intellectual impairment and heart problems.

Tolterodine and tamsulosin for treatment of men with lower urinary tract symptoms and overactive bladder: A randomized controlled trial
Article Abstract:
A randomized controlled trial is used to evaluate the efficacy and safety of tolterodine extended release (ER), tamsulosin, or both in men who met research criteria for both overactive bladder and benign prostatic hyperplasia. The results have suggested that treatment with tolterodine ER plus tamsulosin for 12 weeks is beneficial for men with moderate to severe lower urinary tract symptoms including overactive bladder.
