Information for patients having bladder augmentation
Article Abstract:
A caecocystoplasty is used when performing bladder augmentation to improve continence caused by neuropathic dysfunction or idiopathic detrusor instability. One of the main complications of bladder surgery is the build up of mucus, which must be irrigated by daily washing. Nurses are ideally suited to inform and reassure bladder augmentation patients as to the nature and success rate of surgery. Communication skills need to be improved with regard to ensuring patients fully understand the nature of surgery and complications which may arise.

Article Abstract:
A UK patient suffering from diabetes mellitus was treated by a specialist diabetes team which provided medical management and support. Diabetes mellitus is known as type 2 diabetes and is the main type of illness found in 75% of UK diabetes diagnoses. The disease tends to affect people over the age of 65. Insulin-related problems are the main cause of type 2 diabetes in people over the age of 40. Diabetes patients should be given all related information to help manage their own illness.
