Touted vaccination plan hasn't appeared
Article Abstract:
The Clinton administration has not yet proposed a concrete plan for immunizing the nation's children, despite news reports that the President is considering such a plan. Pharmaceutical companies object to the idea because lower profits would result if the government bought vaccines in large quantities for lower prices. The companies cite evidence that the US government already buys vaccines in large lots but is unable to raise the immunization rate of children in inner cities.

Funds offered as first step in rebuilding vaccine plans
Article Abstract:
State health programs will receive $300 million in federal funds to assist them in strengthening state public health programs and boosting inoculation rates. The funds, which would almost double the $342 million in federal money spent on inoculations, are part of Pres Clinton's economic plan. A provision for a national vaccine-tracking system is included in the plan.
