Transfer of host T-cell membrane HLA-DR and CD25 to target cells by human retroviruses
Article Abstract:
Many viruses such as HIV appear to be capable of transferring proteins from one cell to another and this could account for the immune abnormalities seen in AIDS patients. Using T cell cultures, researchers found that both HIV and HTLV-I can transfer membrane proteins from activated T cells to unactivated cells. The proteins included HLA-DR and CD25, which are normally present on activated T cells but not on unactivated cells.

Human antibodies to major histocompatibility complex alloantigens mediate lysis and neutralization of HIV-1 primary isolate virions in the presence of complement
Article Abstract:
Antibodies against MHC class I or class II antigens can inactivate HIV. This most likely happens because the virus incorporates MHC antigens into its membrane when it buds from an infected cell.

Bacterial vaginosis-associated microflora isolated from the female genital tract activates HIV-1 expression
Article Abstract:
Some bacteria that infect the vagina, causing bacterial vaginosis, can also activate HIV. In a study of a woman with bacterial vaginosis, Mycoplasma hominis was found to activate HIV.
