Traumatic brain injury and time to onset of Alzheimer's diseases: a population-based study
Article Abstract:
There is much debate and controversy concerning the link between traumatic brain injury and Alzheimer's disease. Researchers in this study hypothesized that among persons with traumatic brain injury who develop Alzheimer's disease, time to onset of the disease is decreased. They used data on documented episodes of traumatic brain injury that occurred between 1935 and 1984. Their findings suggest that a traumatic brain injury reduces the time to onset of Alzheimer's disease among those at risk for developing the disease.

Avoiding adverse drug reactions in the elderly patient: issues and strategies
Article Abstract:
It may be advisable to exercise caution when prescribing medication for elderly patients to avoid unwanted or adverse drug reactions (ADRs). Factors associated with increased ADR risk in this population include the body's changing chemical response to drugs with age, lack of treatment coordination among multiple providers, and the sheer number of drugs taken. Providers can minimize ADRs in this population by carefully evaluating the addition of new drugs and through thorough patient education.

Proposed guidelines for the participation of persons with dementia as research subjects
Article Abstract:
Analysis of the voluntary participation of people affected by dementia and Alzheimer's disease in research programs reveals that the affected individuals destroy their own cognitive and effective capabilities by their deteriorating will power. The study of the process will enable the development of new techniques to treat these diseases which affect the old age people.
